Dr Polytimi Frangou

Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Polytimi Frangou is a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow working in the Stagg group, collaborating with the Oswal and Tan groups. Polytimi’s fellowship looks at the neurochemical origins of normal and pathological visual processing. She uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy, pharmacological interventions and non-invasive brain stimulation to investigate the neurophysiological mechanisms through which GABA and acetylcholine facilitate human cognitive function.

Polytimi studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (2012), before completing her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge (2018). Her doctoral work looked at the role of neurotransmitter GABA in visual plasticity during training, using multi-modal brain imaging and non-invasive brain stimulation.
